Ads
There are a variety of different ads that run on this site. There are basically three sources of advertisements…
Individual Advertisers
I have companies contact me directly to advertise. Before approving any of these ads, I do a thorough investigation of the company. I turn down many prospective advertisers if I feel that they would not be a good fit for the readers.
Christian Ad Network
There is a Christian Ad Network that is used that has a few hundred Christian advertisers and the ads rotate. The advertisers rotate in and out of the program so the ads are always changing. Obviously many Christians have different convictions, so just because an ad is on a “Christian” network you should still do your due diligence. CPF has been using this network for a long time and there has only been 1 ad that I felt was not appropriate. I contacted the Network and they immediately removed it from the rotation. If you ever see any that you feel are not appropriate or are offensive – please let me know.
Google Adsense
Google’s Adsense program is the most popular advertising program on the internet. They are particularly effective (and dare I say helpful) because the ads adjust to the context of the page. So if the webpage is about headphones, the user will see ads about headphones.
Google does a pretty good job of keeping the ads related to the content at hand, but sometimes they miss it. Again, if you see anything that is inappropriate or offensive please let me know about it. When contacting me try to provide the URL of the ad, so that I can hunt it down and remove it. There are probably millions of advertisers in the Adsense program, so the more detail you can provide about the ad, the more helpful it will be.
In General
If the ads are from one of the Ad Networks, I likely haven’t been able to investigate the company. Please use your own due diligence when doing business with these vendors (or any company for that matter). Check out BBB.org to make sure they are a legit and upstanding company.
Also, since this is a financial site ads for credit cards and debt consolidation are likely to pop up. While credit cards are very common in America, I recommend using extreme caution when using credit cards. As far as Debt Consolidation, I first recommend other methods of getting out of debt, and only recommend it as an alternative to bankruptcy.
Thanks for helping me out with this. Together we can keep relevant and helpful ads on the site.
