Default Independent Avon Sales Representative with question

I recently started Avon company like this Wed. that just past. I really wanted to start a business that I can be proud of and put all my hard work into to have my business to be successful.

I just need to know is there any ideas or advice anyone could give to me to have my business to be successful? I want to have a lot of customers that will buy from Avon through my website.

I don't know of another Avon salesperson on this forum, so I will chime in with my 2¢.

Please take everything I say with a grain of salt. I don't sell or wear makeup.

I would think that 99% of Avon sales are based on relationships and not on the actual product. Even if the products are superiour to makeup you buy in stores. The nature of the business is that you purchase Avon from someone who has sold it to you. Most people are not going to mail order a relatively inexpensive product when they can go pick up a comparable product from Target or Walmart. Combine that with the multi-million (probably billion) dollars advertising budgets of all the major makeup brands. So basically at any point in time, all the people who purchase Avon already have someone they purchase Avon from. Sure there will be a few people, who have heard about it and want to try it, and there will be a few who maybe had a falling out with their old salesperson and need a new salesperson. But I think the bottom line is: If you want to sell Avon, you will have to be a salesperson. You will have to talk to lots of women, show them the product and convince them the product is better/cheaper than what they are currently using. Then once you gain a customer, you will have to cultivate that customer for ongoing sales. Remember that lady will see millions of dollars worth of Revlon advertising. You can't just call her in a year and ask her why she isn't buying Avon anymore.

I hope that "outside" perspective helps.
