We just recently subscribed to Real Simple and so I thought it would be good to have for free stuff friday this week. Don’t laugh, but it is labeled as a woman’s magazine, but I secretly like it.
I mean, just look at the cover – how can you not like it? (for the guys who just lost a lot of respect for me – I also enjoy camping, football, and working on my car)
About Real Simple
Here is a little bit about Real Simple from the publisher…
“Real Simple is the new magazine for the way you want to live today. You’ll find actionable solutions to streamline the ways you manage your life. Systems for reducing clutter, saving time, and reducing stress. Inspiring ideas about home, food, money, clothes, health, work, family, and holidays.”
and…
“Real Simple’s core audience is comprised of smart, busy women who are looking for creative solutions to their everyday challenges, so they have more time to focus on what really matters. Real Simple serves a wide range of women with just as many loyal fans in their 20s as in their 50s. The Real Simple reader is well-educated, affluent and professional, but most of all, she is looking for ways to make life easier. Real Simple has an impressive monthly audience of 8.6 million people, including a loyal following of women who say they feel calmer and more in control when they receive the magazine each month.”

Bob,
I appreciate your openness about enjoying a ‘woman’s magazine’. You are a better man than me – I recently read an interesting post on saving money on a baby stroller. I went to leave a comment and all 15 who left comments were ladies. I ducked out of that website faster than you could imagine.
Perhaps with your inspiration I will start being bold enough to be the first male to leave comments on some of the sites I read.
LOL, i know the feeling, I find myself on a mom-blog from time to time and I can normally feel the estrogen oozing from my computer screen
Bob, This magazine is horrible. I’ve never read it but if I ever have to deal with them again, I’ll flip out. For somereason unknown to my wife or me, they got a hold of my wifes name and literally sent her a bill for a subscription. And we never got this magazine, never seen it. She sent the bill back a few times saying she never got it. Finally the sent some threating letters saying they were going to a bill collector for thier $17 or some junk. I had to call them and tell them what for. I told them I was reporting them to the BBB and if they contacted us again I’d sue them.
Later that week we actually saw the magazine for the first time on a target news stand, and we both laughed.
Now I’m not sure if my problem was with this actual company or some other sub-company that sells magazine subscriptions. Hopefully you will have better luck.
4jacks,
thanks for the heads up – my wife had similarly frustrating experiences with InStyle – it is definitely a bummer when they behave that way… I will let you know if I ever have an experience with them like that…
