I have been getting an increase of emails lately asking for permission to reprint the articles found on ChristianPF.com. My republishing policy is pretty simple, but I thought I would throw this down on a post just to get it out there for the future requests.
Finding good articles on ChristianPF
As you probably know I write mostly about financial topics: budgeting, saving money, getting out of debt, making money, investing, etc. from a Christian perspective. One of the biggest challenges of having a blog is finding ways to keep your best content from getting buried.
- I have by no means figured out a perfect system, but if you click on any of the topic buttons (currently to the right —>) you will find a list of my better posts on that topic.
- You can also browse by more specific topics in the “More About…” section (currently to the right and down) as well.
- You can also use the good ‘ol search bar (up above) which will pull up articles that I wrote related to your search keywords.
Adapting the content
I know I am taking a little bit of a risk here, but currently my policy is that you can adapt the content to fit what you need it for. We both know full well that a lot of the ChristianPF articles are in a very personal tone and not very formalized.
If you need articles for a newsletter that you don’t necessarily want in such a casual voice, feel free to make the necessary changes by omitting sections of the articles.
However, if you do, please try to make sure the article still makes sense for the reader – so we both don’t look foolish
.
So who can reprint the article?
Churches
I have had a few churches contact me wanting to use some articles in their newsletter. This is absolutely fine and actually gets me excited. My passion is to see Christians’ get a better understanding of their money and to become great stewards. If I can contribute something to help that come to pass, I am thrilled. So, absolutely feel free to use any ChristianPF articles in your church newsletter or other church related activities.
Appending “Used by permission from ChristianPF.com” to any articles would be greatly appreciated!
Online newsletters
Currently I think there are a few online newsletters that are syndicating ChristianPF articles as well. I pretty much feel the same way with them as I do churches – go for it!
Please add “Used by permission from ChristianPF.com” to the article footer. If hyper linking the web address is possible, that would be helpful!
Individuals/Bloggers
Feel free to republish my articles on your blog or website when you want a day off or if you found an article that you think would be particularly helpful to your readers. Or if you want to just post sections and add your own commentary, that is great as well… I only ask that mention that the content is from ChristianPF.com and link back.
Spammers/Scrapers
When I think of spammers, I think of all the frustrating 15 second blocks of time that I waste whenever I have to fill in a spam protection captcha thingy. They are getting increasingly difficult to read and we have spammers to thank for that.
So obviously, I am not particularly fond of spammers, but some of them are doing things out of ignorance and not malice. So, I will give them the benefit of the doubt. But if you know better and are a spammer, you can NOT use any articles from ChristianPF.
Others
If your article republishing request is not answered above feel free to contact me. But if it is very similar to one of the above scenarios, use your best judgment – I trust you.

Let me just say that your reprinting policy is admirable! As writers, there is a certain desire to tightly control the things we produce, os it takes a lot of bravery to just offer up your works for others to enjoy and use as they choose. I respect that.
Have you had a look at the Creative Commons licensing system? They’re got a number of great resources and licensing programs that allow for exactly what you want, but within a standard form and well recongized program.
thanks, I haven’t looked into the Creative Commons license enough, I have seen it around a ton, and like you mention it would be a better way to standardize the whole thing… Added to the to-do list!
Thanks!
That’s very cool of you to have such an open policy like that. I think that’s a great thing to allow others to do. When I want to take a break but still want to add great content, I know where to come. Thanks for the policy.
