Christian Contentment

Learning how to be content

11.03.2009

I don’t believe that contentment means settling for mediocrity. But rather it is being satisfied at whatever place in life God has us at, while trusting that He does have our interest at heart and that he does want to bless us and see us succeed.

Where are you fixing your hope?

06.02.2009

I was reading a little bit in Timothy today and I found a verse that is strikingly timely for the U.S. today.
“Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to [...]

Encouraging Bible Verses

10.16.2008

Everyone needs a bit of encouragement from time to time. Thankfully, the Bible is full of encouraging verses! Even in the midst of the “financial crisis” that we are in the middle of, we can remain hopeful and encouraged if we keep trusting in God. I have found that the key is to finding specific Bible verses and meditating on them. According to the Word, this is how faith comes. The more we soak up the truth of God’s Word, the more assured we become that He really is going to take care of us!

Can you fit through the eye of a needle?

10.07.2008

Ah, you know the verse. It’s the one that people love to quote when they are trying to prove that Christians should be poor because it appears to be more righteous. Well, is it really? “For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” Let’s look at the definition of “rich,” and see who qualifies.

The hardest financial habit to break

09.17.2008

Breaking the habit of discontentment… I was recently asked what the most difficult habit to break was as I started getting my finances in order. I think for me, it was breaking the habit of discontentment. I used to see something I wanted and I would want it so bad that I would not be happy until I got it. It has taken a while to break this bad habit and replace it with a good one, but I really believe it has been one of the most valuable moves I made…

You can’t take it with you

08.14.2008

I am working on a new project for ChristianPF that I will be unveiling soon and while I was doing some studying for it I came across an interesting quote from Steven King. Apparently his accident that he had a few years back helped put things in perspective for him. I share the quote because it is something that I want to keep in the forefront of my mind as I am navigating through life.

Getting out of Debt : It’s not about you (Part 1)

07.28.2008

Getting out of debt Part 1… If you are like most Christians I have met, you want to be able to give more. You have a good heart and wish you could give more. You really want to be able to bless people and give more to your church. But again, if you are like most that I have met, you are thinking, “it is hard enough just to pay the bills each month, let alone give to others the way I would like to.”

You think the U.S. has inflation issues

07.12.2008

It is easy to fall into the mentality of just focusing on our problems here in the U.S. To make matters worse, we often seem to think that we have “problems,” when by comparison most of us have not experienced “problems.”For example, if you make $50,000 in the U.S. you are richer than 99% of the rest of the world.

Are you free from the Love of Money?

02.03.2008

The bible says that Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. God knows our thoughts and motivations behind every action we take. People, on the other hand, do not, but they like to think that they do. It is easy to look at someone with a lot of money and judge them quoting the above verse. But we will NEVER know their heart.

Can a Camel fit through a Needle?

10.28.2007

…the famous Matthew 19 verse where Jesus says it is,”easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” This is a verse that is so frequently taken out of context, especially by people who have never opened a Bible. FMF lays out a great explanation of the verse by providing the whole passage and looking at it in context.
