Good News

  • Happy Easter!

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

  • Pray for your pastors

I know that even though this story is getting national coverage, it will be short-lived and many Christians won’t ever hear about it. I encourage you to step up your prayer for your pastors and encourage others to do the same. Prayer does work, but the prayers need to be prayed! I refuse to stand by while the enemy attacks, when I am fully equipped to fight back. Let’s use the offensive weapon that we have, the word, and pray.

  • ChristianPF got a makeover!

As many of you have already noticed, ChristianPF.com got a bit of a makeover this week… I am still working on some finishing touches, but overall I am very happy with how it feels now… For the email and RSS readers, below is a little preview, but I encourage you to stop by and check it out in full effect!

  • Zecco no longer free

I just got recently got an email from Zecco announcing that they are doing away with free stock trades for accounts with less than $25,000. This is a bummer, but I always wondered how they could afford to pull off an offer like that. Apparently, with the economic challenges they weren’t able to.

  • The pray without ceasing experiment

In 1 Thessalonians 5:17 it says that we should “pray without ceasing”. Unless you are a monk, you probably don’t have the opportunity to dedicate all of your waking hours to prayer. We can be sure that the apostle Paul was not suggesting that we quit our jobs to go up on a mountain and pray all day, because he had some strong things to say about providing for our families (1 Tim 5:8)

  • ChristianPF articles free for reprinting

I have well over 400 reprintable christian articles on my site. Put simply anyone other than spammers can republish the articles for free. To find out more about my reprinting policy read this post… I have been getting an increase of emails lately asking for permission to reprint the articles found on ChristianPF.com. My republishing policy is pretty simple, but I thought I would throw this down on a post just to get it out there for the future requests.

I don’t have this year’s Christmas giveaways completely planned out yet, but I think you will enjoy it - I will just leave it at that. But if you or your business has a product that you would like to donate for the giveaways, shoot me an email and let me know. It will give your company some face time on the site and hopefully send you some new customers.

  • Redecorating the site

Linda and I often get made fun of because of how often we redecorate various rooms at home. I can’t help it, I just like to keep things fresh! So, for Christmas I decided to do a little redecorating of the site. I moved a few things around and tried to shine some light on some different things. By moving the articles all the way to the left and putting both sidebars on the right, I am hoping that it makes the pages it bit more readable.

  • $1 gas anyone?

I am getting such a kick out of watching gas prices plummet. Getting back to the $2 per gallon mark was pretty exciting, but since most of the U.S. has passed that mark, what is next? $1 gas?

  • McCain/Obama - Who is better for your money?

Admittedly, I don’t know as much about the ins and outs of each of the candidates as I should. But based on the factors I investigated I have developed a strong opinion and am decided on who will get my vote Tuesday. I am curious to hear what some of the reader opinions are about how Obama or McCain would affect your finances.

  • $2 gas anyone?

$2 gas… I am not sure if we will break the $2 mark, but if oil prices keep dropping like they have been, I think it is a very real possibility. Has anyone seen $2 gas yet?

  • New US dollar coins

What do you think about the new US dollar coins? As you may have heard, the U.S. Mint has been encouraging Americans to start using the new dollar coins rather than $1 bills. In fact they are going to be spending about $12 promoting the project. Since coins last a lot longer than bills, the Federal Reserve estimates that replacing dollar bills with coins would save the country over $500 million.

  • If credit were a plant (or a cactus)

The credit cactus… I found this and think it is very true. Our nation has become so over-extended and as a result, many creditors have tightened the purse strings. This cartoon depicts it well…

  • 10 Day Give Wrap up

Thanks to everyone who participated in the 10 Day Give. I had a great time and really got to see God use the little bit I had to offer to bless others. For me, the best part was deliberately getting into the mindset of giving. It really did help me to open my eyes to opportunities that I would have missed otherwise. Now the challenge is to keep it up and make it a lifestyle!

  • $40 survey for CPF readers

I took the survey myself, just so I could give you more accurate details. There are actually 2 surveys, the first one pays $10 and is basic and simple questions about your debt situation and what would help you get out of debt. It took me 8 minutes to complete.

The second survey which pays $30 requires that you go play around with the tool and then provide feedback. The feedback portion is very short - it only took me about 3 minutes, but they may want to call you to ask you a few questions (less than 20 minutes). Either way, whether they call or not, you will get paid $30.

  • Recession cycles

After receiving quite a few questions about our current recession and other concerns about the U.S. Economy I thought it would be good to share a bit about the history of economic cycles in the U.S.

  • Happy October!

Well, September was a good month for me, but I am excited that we are finally getting some Autumn weather. Did I mention I love the Fall. Actually, I love all the seasons. I guess I just like change. People make fun of my wife and I because we re-arrange our living room so much. We just can’t help ourselves - it is just too fun!!

Anyway, since I am currently sitting on the beach (don’t get jealous, I am praying that you get great vacations too!) I will leave you with some of the more popular articles from September - in case you missed them.
