Regarding the Best Before Date - It doesn't go bad, period. Unless it gets stuff in it, ie dirty, don't toss it. It simply kills any germs that get in, so its always antiseptic and ready to work its wonders.

Its also great for cleaning grimey electronic peripherals, ie. computer keyboards and telephones. Cleans them up like new with just a Q-tip and lots of patience. I had a job where we had to clean up quite a few, and the joke was that alcohol always made the job a whole lot easier.

Thankyou for this information !
Question though, what about the 'best before date' (?)
and
what about felt pen &/or crayon on cover of paperback books ?

No rush, just when you have a minute.
(I ordered a '90 minutes in heaven' book from Amazon,
which I won't do again, as we sell it here in Victoria @ our Christian Book Store for a quarter of the price,
and it came with scribbles on the front jacket & the first page inside. Love the book & have friends who want to borrow it too, should I try the rubbing Alcohol on both pieces or just the cover/jacket or not at all?)

Well, having played your guitar, I fully recommend putting a new set of strings on there. :P

Thanks for sharing that Tristan, I don't think I knew that - maybe I can do that instead of changing my strings once a year ;)

Don't forget! Rubbing alcohol can clean/brighten old guitar strings. Simply dampen a cotton ball/pad or rag (100% cotton) with the alcohol, and rub each string to remove any tarnish or rust. Try to avoid getting the rubbing alcohol on the fretboard. Of course, use your best judgement. Sometimes you just need need new strings.

Years back, I discovered this trick myself. I guess it just occurred to me. :)
