Wealth lesson from ants

They are so small. In terms of size, their brains must be a tiny fraction of ours. But yet, so many of us are put to shame by these little guys when it comes to preparing for the future.

Go to the ant, O sluggard, observe her ways and be wise, which, having no chief, officer or ruler, prepares her food in the summer and gathers her provision in the harvest. pro6.6-8

Yes, it is true that God promised to “supply all our need…”(phi4.19) But, it is also clear in scripture that it will be to our benefit to use wisdom.

As Americans we are faced with reality that in just a few years we may not be able to depend on the government to provide for us in retirement, much less provide a comfortable one. Just like the ant didn’t have anyone instructing it to store up food for a later date, we too must make saving a priority in our lives.

The beauty of it is that WE have the power to make a difference in our lives. Proverbs 1:32 says, “…the complacency of fools shall destroy them.”

It is always easier to NOT do something. But the rewards of doing just a little bit, far outweigh the temporary pleasure of NOT taking action.
