I remember the first time I saw a pair of Crocs. My future sister-in-law, who is very fashion-couscious, had them on and my family teased her and called them "cheese shoes" (she had a yellow pair).
I would definitely agree that Crocs are a fad and have probably passed their peak. Hmmm, I think when I next see my future sister-in-law, I will have to ask her what the latest fad is. I think she's a great clue as to what the next big thing might be :)

@Mrs. Micah
I am watching the premium Tea trend - Just like the Starbucks spearheaded the whole Premium coffee drink thing a few years back... I am seeing small indications that there could be a trend with premium teas - Teavana being a company who has found a way to market them well. I think the jury is still out on this one, but it is worth keeping your eyes open-

Yeah, crocs are probably on their way down. They may stick around in public consciousness and in some stores (or their ripoffs will), but I doubt they're going up. 18 months ago, it would've been a good opportunity for someone with less risk-aversion than I have. Live and learn.

Based on what you're seeing this fall, do you have any predictions about what will be the new crocs?

The principal of seeing an opportunity can be applied at all levels of business. If you see something your company is doing that wastes money, tell someone and get your name on the solution. I once saw a fast food location that had gone belly up across the street from a university. I kept saying over and over it should be a taco bell. Eventually a taco bell went in there and is highly profitable. Just keeping your eye out and be willing to act when the opportunity presents itself is many times the key to financial success.
