Would you ask God for money…
… if He said you could have anything you wanted? This is a good question to ask yourself, because it reveals a lot about your heart.
In [tag]1 Kings[/tag] 3:5 God asked [tag]Solomon[/tag] this question. “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, ‘Ask what you wish me to give you.’”
This is what Solomon asked for: “…give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people to discern between good and evil.” 1 Kings 3:9
Because he asked for [tag]wisdom[/tag] on how to help people God responded with this: “God said to him, ‘Because you have asked this thing and have not asked for yourself long life, nor have asked [tag]riches[/tag] for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to understand justice, behold, I have done according to your words.’ ‘Behold, I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you. I have also given you what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days.’” 1 Kings 3:11-13
This passage reminds me of [tag]Matthew 6:33[/tag], “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”

Thank you for this post.
I’ve been asking God for money for some time now (in vain) after learning that asking God for things is not necessarily bad. But I understand what I’ve been doing wrong. First of all, I have not been living within God and has not allowed God to live in me. It says in Galatians 5:19-23, [all those who practice] the works of the flesh, [which are] sexual immorality, oral impurity, promiscuity, idolatry, sorcery (fortune telling), hatreds, strife, jealousy, outburst of anger, selfish ambitions, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkeness, carousing and anything similar,…will not inherit the kingdom of God. I have been commiting atleast 2 of these “works of flesh” w/o realizing they weren’t right.
And secondly, I’ve been asking, specifically for certain things (for specific results, even telling him that I would not like it if God didn’t do it in the way I wanted) which was beyond what I actually needed btw. But I realize I have been very selfish in my wishes, not trusting God.
So God does not answer all prayers, especially if it was prayed for selfish reasons…don’t know if you agree or not.
